Willie is a native Texan who picked up guitar at age 12. At
age 15, with the help of some other musicians from his
church, won a talent competition and performed at a
revival for Jimmy Swaggart. After playing in garage
bands Willie discovered "the Blues." This
changed him. He then began playing area Blues Jams with
people like Holland K. Smith, Junior Clark of the
Stratoblasters fame, Snookie Duke and the Roadrunners, Mouse
Mays, Guitar Slim, and the late Matt Snow. He then met
Greg Walling and The Boogie Men while they were playing at the
Box Car in Cedar Hill where Willie was bartending. That
was in 1990, the rest is boogie history. Willie has been with
the band ever since.
Willie's Favorites: Hendrix, SRV, Bugs
Henderson, Robben Ford and Holland K. Smith. Willie also
thinks that Greg Walling is a hell of a guitar player.
Personal:
Riding his red Harley-Davidson, (the blood vessel), old cars,
and working at Dallas Harley-Davidson.
Personal note:
On 10/10/02, someone stole all of Willie's gear. He
would like to thank the following people. A big thanks
to everyone at Larry Morgan's Music for making it
possible for Willie to replace his gear in 48 hours. A huge
thanks to Christine for all her help. Willie said he couldn't
have replaced it that quickly without her help and State Farm.
See you down the road.
